Hey, on the scrounge again.

I am after a pair of HS4 or HIF4/Twin HIF38
Pref in good order, but I don't mind doing a rebuild of them.
Would like the carbs and linkages for fitting to a Mini, Manifold is nice to have, but not urgent at this time.

OR

a Weber 46/48IDA, Must be in good working order, prefer with a Manifold as they are PITA to get hold of. Bu tI think my luck might of ran out getting one of these puppies :(

Not looking to spend too much on these, so what you got?

HS3? Never heard of those myself...

Dave - I know they are aren't exactually around much are they :( I've fancied a IDA for a long while, but I can never find a twin choke 46IDA, I can find a few triple choke 46IDA's but there over in the states. I have been tempted by a IDF, but not sure how I would make a linkage for one of those :(

Do you know of any Twin Choke 46IDA's for sale Dave?

I make a bit of my income from refurfbing weber carbs, I wish I could find a few IDA's to do, they are getting like hen's teeth. The manifold to suit the Mini is even harder to find.
If I should come across one I will letyou know but do not hold your breath.
Regards
Dave

No worries mate :)
I must remember that you do webers, might come in handy one day :)

As for Manifolds, I can tig weld, so I'd make my own Manifold.

Can you tell me what the differ is between a IDA, and a IDF?

They are physically two totally different carbs. The IDA is the preferred performance downdraft carb but having said that there is no reason the IDF should not give similar results.
The IDA uses the same (important) jets as the DCOE range which makes them easier to set up (and understand).
I have had very little to do with IDF carbs so I can't tell you much, but the use of a diaphragm for the accelerator pump circuit seems to be the main operational difference.
I would not use them because:-
Jet availability.
Suitable Filter availability?
I don't know much about them!
IDA's are fabulous because
jets are easy to get
K&N made to suit
I can understand exactly how they work.
So having said all that an IDF with the same choke size should give the same result as an equivalent IDA but the IDA is easier to find jets for!!

Dave

I have a pair of HIf4s on a manifold for a Maxi. They need a strip and rebuild, one of the throttles is siezed.

All linkages complete, manifold spacers and throttle cable brackets. Id suggest you replace the heat shields as the originals are asbestos.

Linkages may need shortening a little to fit the mini maniflod, no biggie

I have not looked inside these, but strongly believe them to be complete and repairable, the ID tags are still fixed to the dashpot.

£50 and the whole lot is yours??
