Actually got off my ass and got the engine (head already removed) out of my meccy today.
Undone everything last week...just need the final lift.
Managed to lift the engine out on my own........then trip arse over tit backwards. Got a lovely bruised black knee taking the weight of the engine.
Got engine in garden....and alas.....had to phone a friend!Damned if I can lift it!!!!!!!!!!
So moral of story...I'm old, and becoming a wimp!

I can only just lift a built block, nevermind gear box and all

Get a crane-it will save your back

I agree Nic....after sore shoulders & bruised knee, I've decided my thin 12 stone frame can't take it anymore!
Weird how 10 years ago I problably weighed 10 stone & could lift anything!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers Josh! Feel so much younger now!
F***...got me bathroom scales out...well over 100kgs! Not sure how accurate that is, but not surprised I'm shot to bits!
It was only jacked up off the mounts, lift onto the front valance & down on the ground.
Grad I phoned a friend now!

lol nic

Engine in the house now. Friend popped round to help lift. Moral of the story number 2, seems easy to lift at the right height....but when its on the deck....its damn impossible!

You wimp, you could only just lift the back of the DON, and everyone knows how easy that is, the chavs at Avon Park the other week did find it amusing when I picked the back of it up and wheeled it down the queue lane like a wheelbarrow though....

Lmao, I used to lift built blocks, and have move block and box together, never ave ita second thught till I fooked my back up pulling upcarpet tiles of all things, Its not a nice feeling!! Since then no matter how much hassle or inconvienience it is, the crane always gets used!
