Am I right in saying that if you sit there revving the car not moving, that the dump valve does not operate? Does the engine need to be under load for the DV to work or have I just got a duffer. What sort of pressure is required to move the diaphragm in the DV?

Just a thought then, if the turbo is still spinning up as normal but car is not moving how/where does the boost escape to if the DV is not operating? |

As above ^^, but why not prove it to yourself. Take a pipe of between the compressor and the plenum. The give the engine a hand full of revs and while doing this put you hand over the pipe from the compressor. You will (should) feel air pumping out, but not much.

Handbrake on assuming it works properly, select 1st, plenty of revs, slip clutch to load engine up, you will see boost then without moving. Won't do your clutch much good though so don't make a habit of it.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder. On 15th Aug, 2011 robert said:

where have you plumbed the vac in to? If you've done it before the butterfly you won't see vac and it won't open. Hope that makes sense, i'm tired. |
