Due to a change in my family circumstances (new baby due to arrive shortly)I'm selling my Rover Mini Cooper, the car has covered 33000miles it was first registered on 17/11/2000. The tax runs until 1/06/08 and the MOT expires 10/05/08.

QuickHistory
I originally bought the car in August last year, after purchase I had the scuttle resprayed and one of the front bearings replaced. The car cost me £6800 and had an original after manufacture S works conversion fitted by John Cooper garage, sadly the car no longer has the ID plate but I still have the receipt.

Early this year approx June I had some major modification work done the work cost me in excess of £4000 the details are as follows. The work was all carried out at Jonspeed in Nuneaton.

Engine and Gearbox
The original engine was replaced by a pre 90’s 1st staged bored engine 1293cc, the car is no longer covered by such strict emissions (now 5% CO instead of 0.5%). The pistons are powermax pistons and it has a turbo crank that has been balanced. The gear box was also replaced with a refurbished unit and a X pin diff was added to handle the up rated power. The gear box also had the final drive changed to 3.1 to improve acceleration it also has helical drop gears. The fly wheel was replaced with an ultralight steel one and the clutch uprated to a 190mm turbo one. The fuel injection system was completely removed and the engine converted back to an SU HI44 carb with an added Eaton supercharger this is in a suck through arrangement. The head was also replaced with a Stage 4 head the head has 36mm inlet valves and 30mm exhaust valves. The cam is the latest SW-07 cam, it also has duplex chains.
The original radiator has been removed and a new big bore rad and new oil cooler radiator have been fitted so no overheating problems. A secondary electric fan is also mounted in the wheel arch but it’s never been needed as the large Rad is very efficient.
The original fueling syetem has been replaced by a facet fuel pump mounted on the rear sub-frame.
The car has covered approx 2500miles on the new engine/drive train so everything is bedded in nicely.

Exterior
The exhaust has recently been replaced as the new engine destroyed the original Janspeed one from the Cooper S conversion the current exhaust is a Sportex side exit with a middle box which sounds great without being too noisy. Other than the exhaust the car externally looks the same as when it came out of the factory the car is a copper and has the sports pack fitted. The car has a little bubbling in the usual places under the lights, near the filler cap and on the doors near the bottom of the window frame. Other than that the body work is in excellent condition.
The car has John cooper chrome sills; red front/rear badges stickers and Cooper S decals on the body work.
The shocks have been completely replaced with KYB Gas-A-just, these give great handling and also improve the ride over the original ones.
As the car has vastly increased power over standard the front brakes and callipers have been replaced with 4 pot callipers and vented and cross drilled discs.
The car still has the original 6x13 alloys which are in great condition they have some light curbing but no bubbling they are complete with lock nuts. The car has yoko A539’s all round which have only covered about 3000miles. The wheels have been balanced about a month ago.
The high beam spots have also recently been replaced.
The car is not garaged but is kept off road and is covered at night; a good quality (£80+) cover is also included.

Interior
The seats have been replaced a few months ago with Corbeau GTB in black (£400) which have the full slide and tilt and are very comfy but hold you nice round the corners. The drivers seat has a seat extender fitted to give you a few extra inches of legroom, I’m 6’3” and it a pleasure to drive now. The rear seats are the original black and silver leather with no rips etc. The interior like the exterior is also very tidy. The car has a Smiths Clock and oil pressure gauge fitted with the original oil temperature gauge. I also have the original clock (which runs slow) and the voltmeter which I will include these with the car. The car has Alpine speakers front and back and has a Casablanca Blaupunkt stereo CD fitted which has USB connection for a memory key. I also have a Blaupunkt remote fitted to the steering column which works great.

The car has the original Rover alarm fitted as the ECU is still present in the engine bay this only controls the alarm and a few gauges now but the wiring is complete so it theory it could be converted back to fuel injection if you wanted.

The SRS (pretension and airbag system) is fully intact and functional not that it has ever been used.
The heated has recently been flushed out so it works very well.
The car has the original Rover alarm/immobilizer which works perfectly, as it acts on the ignition circuit.

Performance
The car is quick as would be expected it generates 120bhp at the wheels at about 6500rpm and has around 108 lbs/ft torque a 4000revs. The power comes in at about 2500rpm and stays there; it is a bit flat below this due to the cam but is perfectly drivable. I have included the rolling road printout. The car apparently was upto 120mph on the rolling road and would have gone faster. I personally have had it to 110mph, the supercharger and engine was purring nicely. The car is now a great motorway cruiser or a back lane racer, the final drive gives it that extra top end pull over the original and the charger gives it that extra power at higher revs.
I don’t have a 0-60 time as I don’t really drive like that but it won’t be much.

The car has only a few bad points firstly it has an oil leak from the rocker cover with a bit of time and patience this could be sorted easily and the speedo is a little on the optimistic side +15% due to the final drive change, the speedo can be sorted by speedcables for about £60 I never had it done as I drive the car daily and need the speedo, the turn round is about 3 weeks for it.
Due to the removal of the injection system the car can now be tinkered with easily as it is a simple carb (with a custom needle).

The car is in superb condition and due to most of the working parts been replaced a few months ago it should present no problems. I would describe the car as been beautiful the exterior completely understates the raw power underneath it is with a heavy heart that I have to sell him but needs must. With a little work it would make a great show car due to the unusual nature old meets new. Over the past year I have spent in excess of £5000 on the car to get it into its current condition, I have had my fun with the car now it’s someone else’s turn. The car is relatively cheap to insure I have declared everything on my insurance and pay £370 including agreed final valuation full comprehensive with Adrian Flux.

I have all of the bill receipts for the car in a folder along with the original manuals MOT’s etc.

All the information is as accurate to the best of my knowledge I have been truthful about all the points on the car, the car may be viewed in the evening weekends at my home address or at my place of work in the day (by strict appointment only).
I am selling the complete vehicle I am not selling individual parts so please do not ask to buy parts.

As above you are welcome to come and see my mini but potential buyers only, test drives will be at my discretion so don’t expect to be a test pilot.

The asking price is subject to negotiation.

Any questions please feel free to ask you can email me at minisuper@blueyonder.co.uk or phone me on 07969283592

I am looking for £6000 for the car but I'm open to offers.

This will of course include:
Car
Full tank of fuel
All the documentation I have
Various bits including new hinges voltmeter and old clock
Car Cover

Thanks

Garry Weston

Do you mean straight cut drop gears? How come you changed the fuel pump, the original one should be more than up to the job. Nice car though should sell quite quickly.

Hi,
the drop gears are helical, I was going to have straight cut but the potential whine would have got annoying. I don't really know why they changed the pump but its new one anyway.

Thanks for the *smiley**smiley*

Quick question, does this car have to have a cat for an mot? I know the engine is earlier but just wondered if the cat goes off the year of the car or year of the engine?

Thanks all, I would keep him but I don't really want to take my new sprogglet in it with so many loonies around.

The actual info is as follows regarding engine age :-

pre 1/8/1972 visual test only (love this one if the car is not obscured by smoke it passes roughly)

72 - 31/7/86 4.5% CO and HC <1200 ppm

86- 31/7/92 3.5% CO and HC < 1200 ppm

1/8/92 and your into cat tests

Odd thing is how do you prove an engine is 86, 72 or 92 A series havent really changed that much and engine numbers dont mean much.

Luckily the garage where i had the work done is next to the MOT centre and they know and trust each other which was a bonus.

Thanks

Garry

Ok guys and girls due to the complete bunch of numpties on ebay I'm now dropping the asking price to £4500.:(:(

Would anyone suggest parting the engine from the body and selling them seperate?

Cheers
