A typical 13" tyre weighs 14kg? Wow!

Although, by comaprison either the 10" tyre (or the wheel) seem to be optimistically light?

I thought the MB's were lighter than that. I have a set in the garage, i'll try and check them some time.

Comparing MBs with the sort of 13" wheel you buy from MWS / Huddersfield is like comparing Concord with what the wright bros flew!!!!

My 13s are 7.18kgs plus a tyre so probably well under 10kgs and they are single piece Aussie Superlights!!!!

I am sure that the 13" splities that I have tucked away for my project aren't going to be much over the weight of those MBs ...... remember what you gain in rim diameter you loose in sidewall height twice.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Just for comparison 10" sprite wheels i used to have weighed approx 8kg with 165/70 tyre and my 13" performance superlight with 175/50 tyre weighs a hell of alot more

Ok, so a wheel is 15kg, and a tyre is 14kg, so the overall sportspack wheel/tyre is 29kg?

Or did you mean to say:
13" sportspack with tyre approx 14kgs
10" MB with tyre 7,5kgs

To set the semanthics straight.

It is a bit of a funny one - I guess you should define a 'wheel' as an assembly consisiting of a tyre and a rim.

I was wrong when I wrote that a 13" tyre was 14kg. What I meant was "wheel" :)

Vegard, you may have technically made a mistake BUT your from Norway and i assume english is not your native language. as such we can count that one as lost in translation.

Not much help but I'm pretty sure the Rover 12" alloys weighed more than the 12" steal rims, IIRC some of the Might Minis are now running steal rims to save weight.
