Phil has been busy again and is currently making an exhaust manifold for the 205. It has an odd exhaust setup with 8 small exhaust ports, so needs oval collectors.

Heres what he came up with

Aborted test runs trying a few things

Forming tool

Finished

Most interesting thing is how well the material forms, it is 304 stainless.

Tom, Is it actually 'stretching' the material, or simply 'changing the shape' of the tube? ie - if you measure the circumfrence at each end is it still the same?

It does stretch it slightly, not much though, I just thought it is interesting how neatly it forms them.

Difficult job well done.

Did he use any heat?

Presumably he used a press.

Good old 'fly press' is good for jobs like that.
