Hi all, just wondered if anyones ever raced on an 1/8 mile strip before? Is it worth it or is it all over as soon as it starts, if you know what I mean? The reason I'm asking is one has started on an old WW2 airfield not to far from me, so was wondering whether it's worth checking it out?

Never done it, all over in 8.5 seconds though, and probably not into 4th gear, is it really worth it?

if its cheap and you get a load of runs in then i dont see why not.

at least you have a comparision to the timing slips of many people over a quarter so know roughly where you are!

Defo good for practising launches etc.

After all, its the first 1/8th that makes the biggest difference to your 1/4 mile result.

The last 1/8th is pretty much done in 1 gear, with your foot down and no dramas.

Here is a link to the website-
http://www.streetnights.com/
It appears to be attended by chavs in their rice racers but like you all point out it can only provide good practice. Also seems reasonable priced at £5 entrance + £20 per driver for unlimited runs, or is this expensive?

Id say expensive, cause i wouldnt sit next to a corsa with neons shoved up its false double exit exhaust EVEN IF THEY PAID ME! *tongue*

Saying that id go to see red victor like on th website. Just to see if the myth is true. :)

Ive seen it run...and it is a tad fast.

But it is taking the term "road legal to extremes"

The intercooler and fabrication work is superb though.
