On this metro ive bought i think they have wired the coil the wrong way round. Just wanted to check.

Pink/white (power i think) should go to +ive
(Also does this mean its a ballast ignition because of its colour?)

White/yellow from the solenoid should go to +ive

Black/white from the dizzy to -ive

p.s its a 1982 998 metro city and the coil looks to be new but isnt the ballast type.

cheers chaps.

Sounds right to me.

The dizzy takes power from the solenoid (W/Y) whilst cranking and then from the ballast resistor (P/W) whilst running.

yep it was wrong then, cheers axle.

What will happen to a standard coil with ballast ignition? doesnt ballast run at something like 9.6 volts?

I can just run another wire from the fusebox to the coil for power and use the normal coil cant i?

I think that the coil will eventually fail.

Any ignition live would be OK.
