Ive just had a quote for a full respray black (with a red tinit when the sun hits it) with a white roof.

the body work is in good condition anyway with no rust bubbling

New A pannel fitted.

sportspack arches fitted and resprayed, rear arch cut and reshaped to accomadate lowering.

inside boot engine bay everything sprayed

I was quoted £2000 is this a good quote? I said I wanted mint condition.

What do you think

I guess if you want perfection then it will come at a price. Are you simply going to drop the shell off to them and they do all the prep ect?

This is what a mate and myself magaged to achieve in a dusty garage. I think most of the hard work is in the prep really, get that right and the rest will follow.

I don't think it is a bad quote, remember there is a fair bit of work to be done, new a panel, fit arches, cut rear arches etc, its not just a paintjob.

I would say that is quite reasonable TBH, especially with the extra work involved. *oh well*

99% of the work is in the prep, so if your looking to saves some pennys then it could be worth stripping the majority of the car yourself?

Youve got to remember this is not your normal paint aswell, this will increase the price

Black is one of the worst if not THE worst colour for showing up imperfections, so they'd have to do a damn good job to make it a flawless finish.

You could probably get a cheaper quote elsewhere but if you know there work is to a good standard then its worth paying for the quality...you pays your money you takes your choice?

sounds resonable for a good job. as the others say 99% of the work is in the prep. Are they stripping the car down and putting it back together on completion?

as others have said its all in the prep, do not do any yourself its not worth it, if the paint does not take they will have to do it again at a cost. strip the car as much as you possibly can before you give it to them. You will never know whats under the paint until they do what ever they do. best of look

When I had my herritage shell painted it was £1k plus the vat, that was inside and out! Most of the paint shops near her charge £40 per hour labour, if you concider the work your having done it sems reasonable, for my minus I am doing the prep (although on the verge of giving up) and Ill be paying £250 for my local shop to paint it.

Thats cheap as chips that shane,

Theyre proberbly looking at 100 quid on paint alone then labour on that.

Back once again like a renegade master

I already have the paint, so its just labour for priming an blocking back, then top coat, ahh the wounders of craftsmen that love cash in hand!
