Just a reminder that it's one week to go until the Stroke Association Day at Castle Combe.

The basic format is turn up, give someone some money (between £30 & £50) and get to do about five laps of Combe as a passenger in “race” car. All it all not only is it great fun and a lot cheaper than red letter days but it’s for a great cause.

Here’s a few pics from last year:

So in short be there or be a Bini driver!

After making the effort for the last 2 years to drive the 150miles to the circuit from Yorkshire, spend £60 on fuel to use on the track for passenger rides, even pay to get into the circuit, in order to give rides out to raise money, I have discovered that this year only drivers with MSA race licenses will be going on track.
On one hand can understand this for safety reasons, but on the other hand feel that it is throwing my previous efforts in my face somewhat, in any case, neither the MOP, the DON or me will be going.

That is a bit crap - but its probably due to their insurance. Everyone is getting health and safety aren't they?

Yep just under a week to go.

I have been asked to drive again so I could'nt turn that one down.

The format has changed with the car/drivers being strictly invite only due to people just turning up and driving in a "BAC stylee"

I can see their point, remember the Landrover with the M5 engine last year going "off road" leaving mud all over the track? The 150 mph Radical drivers on slicks where slighlty P'd off, just as I was.

I'll be chucking a new turbo on the rather battle scared Challenge Metro in the week.

Please come along, you will enjoy it.

I am going to be getting more involved with this event, the man who runs it now works for the MG Car Club that I race with.

See you there I hope.

JF.

My Brother-in-laws mum lives in Swindon. Her husband recently suffered a stroke and is know recieving treatment in Bristol. So a good cause. I've told her about CC's charity day.
If I had a car..would like to take part.

Twas a geat day, bit drizzly but fun all the same.

The charity raised over £4000.

Completed about 60 trouble free laps managing to stay on the black stuff dispite carring lots of speed and a greasy track.

Think Rob H enjoyed himself..??

Took My new girlfriend out on track who told be she did'nt scare easy who after her "metro ride of a lifetime" she was left speachless and shaking!!!

So I then sent her out in a radical SR3 for more brown trouser moments.

Very good new sytem, can't wait until next year.

Jon.

It was a good day as ever.

Got to say it was a real insight going out in Jon's car.

:EDIT: I forgot to mention that I tend to be a rather quite / mellow passenger

Ney worries Nicky.

Yourself and Alex were conspicuous by your absence to me.

Always next year
