Ive been searching for a cambelt but have no idea what car to get it off. Im using Honda pulleys so ideally a stadard Honda belt would be just the ticket but as usual nothing is that easy as they don't do it in the right length (no. of teeth).

Does anyone know a database of cam belts or if another manufacturers belt uses the same profile as a Honda? I think the old Vauxhall engines used the same pitch belt but don't know of any others?

Just trying to widen my options, searching for the right belt. *oh well*

Cheers
Matt

there should be some companys which make belts of your own spec, obvoiously would have to be measured up well and give them the best information you can

I went into my local motor factors and they had a book with all the different profiles of belt and teeth, then the number of teeth. I worked mine out from the pitch of the teeth then the number of teeth i needed! Mine has toyota pulleys and i have an alfa romeo 1.7 146 cam belt for mine. Think its a QD book that had it in.

I know the pitch and no. of teeth and I even managed to get a copy of one of the books that list all makes and models but it doesn't say what profile the belt is e.g. square, round or pitch.

The odd thing is that the belt is a 3/8s pitch but the profile is HTD and these are only available inpitches 6mm 8mm etc. Its seems that automotive belts are a mix of the 2 industrial belts. lol

Just out of interest have your pulleys got the same profile tooth as this?

Profile is HTDA9.525 and is specific to automotive use. where as HTD 6, 8, 10 and so on is a common drive line available almost anywhere in any lenght

That means the pitch is 9.525

Run some masking tape around the pullies, cut and measure it. Divide this by 9.525 and this will give you the number of teeth. you then have to find a belt with that number of teeth and the width you want.

Ford Zetecs, Hondas, Rover, Mitsubishi, subaru, are a few who use this profile.

IIRC the number of teeth will vary depending on the route of the belt, between 121 and 131 teeh??

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Thats the way i worked mine out basically, think there are about 10 different profiles for car use in the book. I looked at the whole internet research thing and buying belts but found it so easy just bugging my local motor factors.

Ah cheers sprocket, I had a feeling that later Ford and Rover were the same. Ive already cut an old belt to length so thats no problem, i'll probably try your method just to double check as I recon i could get away with a few teeth more or less if need be.

The search continues..lol *laughing*

Still had no luck! The length needs to be as close to 1143mm as possible (120 teeth), can't seen to find anything that is the right width, tooth profile and length?

Anyone got any suggestions? *oh well*
