Without a pic i CAN ONLY GUESS its the holes above the starter? if so I think 5?16" UNC?

Yep. That’s the fellows. Directly above the starter. Not used for anything apart from a mounting for the cable to feed the starter motor.

If you are feeling rough and own a tap M8 will do as well!

why use a helicoil? why not just use the 5/16 UNC thats already there? has he mentioned that the threads are broken? |
