Preston On The Brook

Bradford Grinders, TTTHHHHFFFF 'sucks long and hard through teeth'

I enquired about a line bore on the main bearings, quoted £300!!!!

Aslo my pet machinist doesnt rate them either.

Dont think they are performance machinists, just reconditioners. Doesnt mean that they dont do performance stuff, just not likely to be what you want.

Thats my experience.

£106, no chance thats a one off billet or forging. Migt just be the deposit or they just re grind a crank when you order.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Fastest A Series Mini in the World

leeds/wakefield.

they are certainly not performance machinists,
its been 15 years since i used them for mundane things like bearings rings etc,
the fella you delt with on the desk was named "John,. ", brash arrogant git. everything you wolud take in for repair/ work, he would pronounce scrap.and try sell you one of theres off the shelf.
that was in the bad old days,
nowadays i think its run by the next generation asains, who i may say are a lot more accomadating then the first bunch ,

basically they fix big deisel engines, but do have a large stock of NLA stuff, hence the ebay shop.

20 yrs ago i was shown a billet ateel crossflow crank they had apparently made, looked the business,

they can and will undertake to repaier anything engine wise,

another little story that sprung to my memory,
once i was in there,
a fella dropped a big crank, from a skip wagon, the driver had complained of a rattle, so there fitter pulled the engine and found the crank had knocked a big end, this "John" dropped a mic on the offending journal to show about 1/8 inch, had gone, he pronounced said crank scrap, along with the rod, subsequently went on to charge over a grand for a regrind crank outright, with rod and bearing,

this deal was done in a matter of minutes whilst i was stood waiting to be seen to, and they were on there way,

"John" then turned to me and said, we'll repair that crank, we have a machine that welds up journals , and we 'll sell it on again, ha ha,!!!!.

that was the last time i used them, for obvious reasons,

now the company may have progressed to something all the more honest in the last 15 years , but that man really did them no favours , hes long gone now thank god,

true story,
i have one other amuising story regarding " john!, later.
