I'm getting married next year, and I want the mrs to arrive in a mini limo. The plan is to make one, use it for the wedding then sell it to pay for the honeymoon.

Does anyone have any info on making them, any tips?

I'm guessing the biggest problem will be getting the roof looking good?

Thoughts?

Make it open top.

Then she'll have no trouble with getting the dress through the doors.

Well, take a good look at the roof, as this'll be your biggest problem area - the mini tapers backwards at the gutters - so you'll have fun in this area.
A good start would be to get a hold of at least two van roofs; but these will have ridges in them of course. That could be good however, in that it'll add rigidity to the overall component.
You could try to find a pre '63 roof off an early woody as this'll be smooth - but is rarer than a rare thing that is rare.

Sounds like a good project. :)

How about a mini front, estate centre section and pick-up rear. Could fit a pool in the back. lol

You better think big time about how she's going look getting in and out.

Not the best start to a wedding getting your dress stuck on the gearnob!

Sliding door maybe?

I'd say, don't make it too long. That looks stupid and is very impractical. The Swedish one is borderline long. It'd be great if the rear doors could be cut away over the rear wheels, making it look like a proper car *wink*

IMO, this is too long:

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I reckon an elf / hornet rear end would work well on a mini limo.

PS. If you want a spanner monkey I'm happy to pop over for the odd day to make cups off tea and get in the way.

EDIT: Just done a google search and it's been done.

Jim - cool idea

back in 95 when mrs k and myself got hitched I hired the original incarnation of the mini limo from Dereks mini centre - convertable so no problems getting in and out, we used my mini 25 and the gold car (only a thou back then!) for an italian job with a twist around the suffolk countryside, June and I in the limo and the bridesmaids in the other cars - great fun!

One of two things you can do. Watch top gear for inspiration with the panda then get chopping.

Or there is someone who hires em out. Dereks minis i think he called. Dont know what this is like though.

These are some pics from a friends wedding. They hired this:

Gives you an idea of how it was made, it also had this on the numberplate: Peter Watson (Skipton) 01756 792911, might be his contact number, not sure though.
