Guys,

Now that winter is coming and track day season is all but over I am trying to re-focus on my Mini project. I plan to finally get to converting it over to a turbo and would appreciate your thoughts on the spec. The car will be for track days only.

So, I am thinking

1310cc 9:1 compression
Mirage Manifolds
T2 turbo
Decent Intercooler
SC/CR Gearbox and Drops
Custom Plenum and Dump Valve

I have already converted it to jenvey fuel injection and have mappable fuel and ignition.

I am thinking that this set up running at 10-12psi should be good for 130bhp? The car is stripped out so this should give me a decent power to weight ratio (aiming for 200 per tonne)

My friend is trying to convince me to keep it NA and have it run a highly strung 1380/1400 but your cars on here are a great inspiration and I think the turbo is the way to go.

Any input would be appreciated

Thanks

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

the compression ratio will be an interesting one

Itll be fine for what you propose, but possibly limit you on boost in the long run, however it will make a lovely road mannered engine

Seems a good sensible build and will easily get the power you want

What are your plans for the head and cam?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

go for 1380cc use accralite pistons18cc dish and a kent 266 cam or a shade wilder avonbar phase2

you will then be pushing near the 200bhp mark *surprised* *wink**wink*

I wonder when some one will try the Kent 274SP cam on a turbo motor?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I have a decent head already (might need opeining a little for compression) and no thoughts on the cam yet. The car is going to be track based now so doesnt have to be too clean for the road.

Would 200bhp be too much? I know it sounds daft but would the car be able to put that power down?

Yeah I remember you mentioned that one to me previously Sprocket. Might be worth another look into I think.

The shopping spree starts next month, bolleaux to christmas presents for everyone else.

If it's a track day car then as Nic says you can afford to drop the CR to allow more boost. this will affect drivebility at low speed, but that's not a problem in your case.

200bhp might make the car a bit wild, but 150 is perfectly useable in a well setup car.

it seems 150bhp is a pretty good power to go with, i will be running quite a high cr, around the high 8 mark maybe 9s. In my lightweight motor it should be pretty interesting.

1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.
