Id have though this was DANGEROUS, hence why most use Nitrous oxide.

Why not use 100% nitrous oxide injection?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

its illegale here.
And still expencive.

I know 100% O2 will blow the engine right away. But what about 30 or 40 % pure. I get free o2 upto 40% pure. Mabe 50% if its a little bottle.

Extremely dangerous. The reason nitrous is relatively safe from an explosion-and-fire standpoint is that it does not react with fuel at low temperatures. At higher temperatures seen after normal combustion starts, the nitrogen and oxygen disassociate, freeing the oxygen to work with the fuel. Oxygen, even not pure but significantly enriched, makes everything around it extremely flammable. I read once that if the atmosphere went from 21% oxygen as normal up to 25%, forest fires would be uncontrollable.

As others say, extremely dangerous, I do atmosphere testing at work and have seen videos of oxygen enriched environments, NOT GOOD.

Stick to the tried and tested methods, in this case Nitrous Oxide.

Plus the nitrogen in th NO2 when broken down helps to control the ferosity and temperature of the combustion.

I played with "injecting" compressed air in to the inlet of my mx5, Basicly had a tank in the boot little valve and a regulator. press the button and 4bar was vented in to the inlet track. remmber tho its venting to attmosfer so didn't help much more than just running a good cold air intake. Cheep but bit rubish form of NOS i geuss.

CO2 isnt actually fired into the engine in my knowledge.
An element is placed in the line of intake and cools flowing air.
Of course this is one method and there are others.
Or it could be for intercoolers.

Right. Some folks just shoot the intercooler with a fire extinguisher before a run.

they shoot co2 on the intercooler to freeze the air going into the inlet. the asme works with nitercooler sprays eg co2/h2o/n2o jets onto the intercoler//rad to reduce temperatures and increase performance just like nitrouse jets into the engine.
