done my full wiring loom again, think ive got it right though everything works, but even with ignition off but battery connected, the altenator gets hot! any ideas what causes this? Previous Engine: 1040cc Morespeed engine, 1275 turbo head T2 Turbo Mirage Manifolds Megajolt

Sounds like the diodes in the alternator have blown, and the battery is now being discharged through the alternators windings.

Yes, that's what it is. should have painted it yellow or something.

i changed it for an old one that works... but it still gets hot ...and the engine isent even running yet.

is your + and - not been switched?, check your wiring, sounds like a short circuit somewhere.
