hi guys,

just looking at my mini, and was wondering if anybody has attempted to fit a strut brace in the engine bay?

the only way that i could think of fitting it would be to go from the suspension tower to the firewall and on to the other tower.

lets know guys?

peace,

yeah but both the subframe and bulk head will flex. especially if u cut it to fit the box.
the more resistance the better.

The subframe is unlikly to flex and if you seam weld in the box, you loose little strength.

If you are worried about it you could always fit a roll cage.

mine bends loads, all the wings move arround an inch when turning the wheels on solid ground, and flex about. The engine moves independantly to the body. Just found out its because i need new front subframe mounts! haha

What about a brace between the top of the rear shocks. You will need a different fuel tank, But it could be done.

i think i central positioned rear rollcage diagonal would be much more effective. Might be a good idea for protecting the ally spare wheel type tanks though in a collision.

what will bracing between the shocks actually do?
The load state at this point is purely vertical... If they were mcpherson struts, it'd be a different matter...

Ummm i'm not sure how much it would help but any bracing is good.
