My Nieces want ipods for christmas, looking at them today it seems that all the other manufactures produce better mp3/4 players for the same money
i was looking at the sony and samsung mp3/4 players both come with radio where the ipod does not, i like the look of the samsung as well

what i dont want is there mates saying there players are wank, i only bought an ipod as it was cheaper than a new multichanger in the car

whats your thoughts?

Same here, had other no branded ones, Now got Ipod Nano! Plus me being a young hip 21yr old i can play it really loud to piss everyone else off in the office!

There are many good alternatives to the ipod out there. but..

Whatever you do, don't buy unbranded toot that looks like an ipod, but doesn't work properly. Stick with one of the major brands.

If you are concerned about the 'coolness' of the player than you are best to stick with apple (and play it safe). You can't go wrong with an ipod!

i have had a phillips mp3 player it was pritty good but no colour screen. i have a creative zen 2 (2gb) mp3 player now it has radio can watch videos can see picutres and a full colour scrren also have a rediculess amount of songs on it as the softwear that comes with it compresses the music.

but for a "style" factor the ipod as the upperhand as it is the first mega mp3 player really

I have a Creative Zen 20Gb. It is nothing fancy, but it has a radio. I use it all the time and can't fault it. I would say it is no better than the equivelent Ipod, but no worse either. At half the price though......

To be honest I didn't by an ipod because it was an ipod. For me the trendy 'uber cool' ipod just says fassion victim with no idea how to shop around for the best product on the market. But that is just me.

i don't really like the ipods, they have thier own software that take over you computer, itunes, poo! anyway i've got one of those sony walkmans nw-a1200, not had a problem yet. the new-er versions are supposed to be 10 times better

I have an ipod, there nice but their main downfall isnt the player itself but Itunes.

If your like me and dont intend 'ahem' buying music, then its a pain in the ass. Much easier having a cheaper player that your pc just detects as a removable drive (like a usb pen) drag your music on and away you go, better than sh1tty itunes.

i have a samsung K3AB, very good however its slowly eating my headphones and turning me deaf its too loud

I have an Ipod, but alot of my mates have the creative zen players - one has had to have 5 at last count due to replacement screens after what i would consider minor drops, but my ipod has suffered some major knocks and is still working perfectly.

Agreed that itunes is a bit crap though. Not tried the new Sony players, but I know that the previous generation ones had awful writeups due to sound quality issues. Might be worth seeing how often the other manufacturers will update the firmware on the units themselves as I know with Ipod its every month or two at the least.

Dont remember what it was. But when i was a kid i got a toy that was more expencive then all my friends. But that was uncool since everyone else had the same toy.
