Im in the middle of rebuilding my turbo and to say im pissed off would be an understatement!

I bought a rebuild kit form this guy on the bay and had nothing but trouble...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MEWN:IT&ih=012

First of all it was missing both the piston rings in the kit, after contacting seller he posted them to me (which was fair enough)...
but now another part seems to be to big!!

I cant't think of what it is called but thought i'd post a pic. (excuse the shiteness of it). It the part that the piston ring on the compressor side fits round.

I measured the old one and it was 9mm dia and the new one is 9.6mm dia and the hole is only 9.4mm!!

Can someone that has a rebuild kit have a measure of this part to see what it should be before I send the bloke a shitty email?

Cheers
Matt

My kit is a universal one and has three of those parts in it.

I think it is called the Thrust Flinger.

Two at 8.9mm and one at 9.6mm. The two 8.9s are different lengths.

Not sure which one I need, but I bet it is the one you want.

Ah right!

Just measured it and it was 8.54mm in length.

If your using it for a Gt17 rebuild then im sure it'll be the same one...but if that kit will do T2/T3's then someone else may have one?

My kit is universal for GT15 to GT25.

Very different to the T2/T3.

Thats what mine was but it only seems to have enough parts for one type of turbo!

Any chance you could measure the length of your thrust flinger... *laughing* *laughing*

One of the 8.9mm diameter ones is 8.51mm long.

It's very annoying that the ebay add implies that it is universal, but quietly quotes "ford" in the title.

I'm positive I saw a reference to focus's using a GT17 but I can't find it again.

Ive decided to just ream the end plate out and fit the thrust flinger save alot of hassle trying to get the bit sorted, can't see a problem with doing this?

Do I need to locktite anything, as nothing looked locktited when dismantling?
