Ive been looking to make my plenum but can only seem to find 16 gauge everywhere I look.

My welder recons 16 gauge would be a PITA to weld and recommended 14 gauge minimum?

Any opinions on what gauge to use and where it is available?

Cheers
Matt

Yeah 14 gauge sounds sensible in ally. 16 gauge would probably suffice but maybe a tad thin for such a large item. 16 gauge isn't a pita to weld we use it all the time at work on the race cars but for a road car durability is of more importantance hence the 14 gauge.

Got some 14 gauge. Give me some sizes, I'll put them in the post.
Or go for one of giallofly's tweaked plenums. *wink*

No less than 2mm.

You could go thinner with stainless.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

I think he is looking for thick wall tube, rather than plate.

Cheers for the replies guys. Yeah preferably after 75mm OD tube rather than plate.

Those plenum extrusions are the nuts and a good price too! ;P

How easy is 14 gauge to role without a proper roller?
