Just to be certain before I order one....

I know I want one with the pins NOT at 90 degrees and I've found this link http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=3604 but on another search I found a statement that Minispares ones are not Tran-X but are their own. It seems to be called "Evolution" (or just EVO) but has anyone bought one RECENTLY under part number CAJJ3385 (similar part number at MOSS) and can confirm that it has the offset pins.

Asking you people as I never have any luck with technical questions to MS over the phone....

CAJJ3385 << that's the fella.

I think the one Moss sell is either the same or just a good, avoid the Minisport ones.

I saw that photo when I was searching earlier so I definately won't be using that make.... I just needed to be sure the current MiniSpares one is the design with the pins NOT at 90 degrees as the name they call it is different to the name in the thread I found.
That MiniSport one looks like wrong materials or wrong heat treatment.
Searching around, it looks like some of the "smaller" suppliers are simply selling the MiniSpares one (under their own name or part number) anyway.

I've been using the MOSS copy of the minispares with the offset pins for the past few years with no issues at all, the only reason i got it was because there was a shortage of the minispares type at the time.

T2Clubby has got one the same as mine going spare after he upgraded to an LSD if you want to drop him a PM and save yourself a few pennies.

Dragging up my old post...
I went to buy the MiniSpares one just before Xmas (present to myself) but they were out of stock.
So I tried my local suppliers (DSN) who carry a few MiniSpares parts, but they only had the MiniSport one.
So did a quick search around and found this on eBay.

If the URL doesn't work, it's item number 140189726171

Anyway, it's a Jonspeed one and, at the time I thought it looked like the Minispares one so I emailed them asking...

Text of reply -
Hi Rod
we developed our own cross pin because the planet gears went tight in the evo. Mini spares blamed the planet gears but it was the machining of there diffs that caused the problem. This is the reason they were of the market for a while. We fit all the products we sell so they have been tried and tested by us not just sold over the counter. We fit approx two of these a week so could not put up with the problems anymore. If you put there diff and ours together you can actually see lots of differences but the basic shape has to be the same. The actual body of the diff on ours is also a much better grade of steel than the evo. We also give a full 12 mths unlimited mileage guarantee with our diff from date of delivery.
Thanks Carl @ Jonspeed

Today, Minspares website still said out of stock, but when I phoned them, they are back in stock, website to be updated soon, but I got to thinking....

SO - anyone used Jonspeed's one ???

From the search button, there are a few negative comments about some of their products/service, but none for anyone to have put them in the "Companies to avoid" forum page.
Same story on other Mini forums but also good comments to balance...

So, anyone here actually used their x-pin diff ???
(or could I be the guineau pig)

Ive not had any dealings with Jonspeed, but many people have a rather poor opinion of him/his service/products/kits.

Whether this is hearsay or not, who knows, but I would go with the proven MS diff, and take a pinch of salt with the claims of someone who is trying to sell you something...

When I first had my minispares cross pin diff, the panet wheels where tight, I took the diff back to them, and they replaced the gears and then it was magic. So he's wrong in what he's saying it was the gears causing the fault, but this was sorted years ago.
