Hi all,

i finally have planning permission to build a garage and a small utility on the on the side of my house.. I have just had a quote for the build and it seems very high.

Im going to ring round and get some more quotes (had this one as the building company is currentley working at my parents house)

Has anyone recently had any building work quoted / completed for a similar thing and if so as a rough estimate what should i expect to pay for a garage (3m x 6m) and a small untility?

maybe my estimate of 12k was off??

cheers, Mark.

try on here to get an idea of prices.

I am planning a 6mx6m detached garage at the moment and don't have much more than 12k available. I know I will have a lot of work to do my self.

going rate for a house extension up in scotland is around £1000/m2. That would include fittings decoration, heating etc. depending on the ground conditions etc your price may not be far off the mark £666/m2- remember that a cheap price is not always a good one!

I am just coming to the end of my workshop build, 10m x 10m single skin conctete block, tiled roof, insulated floor slab, concrete roof, powerfloated floor, double glazing. I estimate the total cost of build will be around 7k

my floor cost more than my roof, I was shocked at this, as I thought the roof would be more expensive.

My dad is a builder! But sadly, land isn't cheap and so far levitating garages don't get planning approval. So I have no garage.

I went for a timber garage, the base was already there.
Its 18' x 10' I have put 100mm insulation in the walls and roof then boarded it out.
Full electrics and lighting.

Cost £3000

No planning required
