Right I'm down to the last few mods. I've been reading some posts like this one (http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums//index.php?p=vt&tid=153697) and just want some clarity. My engine is a low mileage genuine 1275 MG turbo. Its been modified with a Benross head, flowed manifolds and running a 266 cam, SC gearset etc. I intend to go up to 12 to 14 psi. Will my verto clutch and flywheel be OK? If not what do I need to replace and what with? Opinions anyone?

Resident Cylinder Head Modifier

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the vertro will not cut the mustard john

i would go for a minispares ultralite flywheel ap race plate and lightend back plate with 1.5mm machined off the lugs as turbo dave states

this togeather with a grey pressure plate
you wont have to go back to it then

As steve says. Verto will not do the business at those boost levels.

In addition to the flywheel etc, you will also need to change the clutch operating lever, plunger, and release bearing for the early type, and move the slave cylinder (I think you can still use the same slave though).

Flywheel housing and wok fine. You may need to change the starter motor though to suit the flywheel ring gear, usually the early flywheels have the inertia type starter ring gear.

I think that you can choose the ring gear. Mine is an early type Ultralight flywheel with a late starter motor (piggyback type)

If you are of the 'tinkering' type, you might like to try a double diaphram. Whilst not the most easy solution, it will certainly work and be cheaper than all the other bits.

Nopw if i can only find the post....

I think this was the post (I'd already read it) http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums//index.php?p=vt&tid=10207 and it seems a bit too much 'tinkering' for me to risk with a brand new SC box I'm afraid. Thanks anyway Dave.
