can you give me some advice on taking my cooper engine out,
i've removed the cooling hoses, pulled out the driveshafts, disconnected the gear selector, but where is the engine secured lol , i cant find the mounts how many are there ?

two mounts, 1 under the rad, the other under the clutch.

2 bolts in each. make sure you go round carefully checking everything is un done. top engine steady, earth strap etc.

You will need to remove the engine steady bars, subframe-to-engine mounting bolts (located in the middle of the side, of each side of the subbie). You will also need to disconnected the gear selector bars by removing the pin and nut. Dont forget to disconnect your exhaust.

When you have the engine 1.2 lifted out be sure to disconnect the speedo cable.

the temp. sender connection
the oil pressure sender connection
disconnect the alternator
disconnect the starter motor
the throttle cable
the heater cable

How do people connect their hoist/crane to the engine - seems to be varying opinions- rocker studs, head studs or put strap round the whole thing?

i usually put a strap or chain under the engine mounts

just pick the engine up, thats what i normally do, just get a few mates round, lol

I use two straps/or seat belts one each end ; all the way under !!


actually seat belts are really cool to use; as yiou can just tie them in a loose knot and the tighten themselves
