This weekend as much as I have tried keeping the mini dry, It went out in some terrible weather.

I was suprised at how well these tyres performed in the wet, They felt no worse then the cheap falcon predecessors on standing water. On the damp roundabouts they still seemed to provide loads of grip.

I'm interested to hear other peoples experiances of these tyres in the wet, because until I drove them in the wet I thought they would be dangerous, and that I would find myself putting the non bling alloys with sensible tyres back on until spring.

finally fitted a pair of 32r's to mine at the weekend to replace the 008's and they feel a hell of a lot better, even in the rain.

13" 175 a048's aren't really motorway wet tyres as i found out today. not only does it like to tramline in the truck tracks and aquaplanes, but also likes to wiggle about! certainly an experience.

round town even if the road is damp it still handles well. just doesn't like puddles.

Well I thithered over going from 08s to 32s becasue my local tyre guy said "the first sign of rain you will be in the hedge". That hasn't been my experiance at all. Yes I have aquaplaned on standing water but it wasn't too bad for a small car with 10" wheels.

I've been really happy with the 539's. Wet and dry.

I really didn't rate the 539's in the wet.

I recently switched to 10 inch wheels and have the 032's on there and was suprised how well they did when I got caught in the rain yesterday.

Not sure if the 048's will be similar?

thats a relieve as i nearly ordered some 539's instead went to the sp200 for my 13 inch revo's.

the seem to be ok in the wet the bridgstones i had were also good wet trye and durable but no longer available and the 2000 are hard to get now so soon looks like i may have to go to 539's

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

i drive with 048's on the lotus every day and they're not too bad atall. standing water can be abit scary as they just seem to go over the top but apart from that if you take it easy in the wet its ok. difficult to get the heat into them that they need to be really grippy in the wet but in the dry they are pretty awesome (nic an vouch for that!)

definitely be getting a set of these for the mini for next year.

turbo hogster - get the 048r's and you wont look back trust me, all other 13' tyres are gash, and if you dont kane it everywhere you might get 10k out of a set or 2 trips to the 'Ring

I can vouch for 10k out of 32's anyway, don't know about 48s. That's on tiny 10's too.

539s were awful on snow and ice! I found them OK in the wet and wonderful on the dry, but I've never driven an R compound tire. They scared me on packed snow, and I don't scare easy having driven rear-wheel-drive cars on no-name tires in the snow for years. For winter I wound up getting 145/70R12 Nankang tires, which have been great. Blizzaks are apparently NLA in Mini sizes.

ive got 539's on mine and they are really good in the dry but if they arnt warm in the wet (lots of wheelspinning helped me) they just understeer or drift on the corners if your not careful. i cant wait for the snow though i have driven my dad 330 on the snow with no tread on the rears and 1.6mm on the front it was awsom but didnt go above 15mph lol.

i was going to go for 008's on the build im doing now but by the looks of it they are pap should i just go for the 032s?

I read somewhere that the "aquatusk" tread on 32s and 48s are designed for wet use. The name aquatusk says it all really.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

A friend of mine had a048r's on his 380bhp evo and in the wet on the road it was terrible cos he couldnt get enough heat in them, but we did a track day a croft and it pissed it down and they were brilliant.?

Nankang dry grip is very low relative to the Yokos. What I meant is they go well in the snow. I did have mine siped, where they make thin cuts across the tread. Supposed to improve snow grip a lot.
