I've done a search and can't find anything specific to this question...

Later ones (source, A+ Metro engines) weigh 1.2kg and the ones I have, the rubber insert is a bit perished.

An earlier one I have (source, early A 1275 but not sure which variant) weighs 1.45kg, the outer section being thicker. Also, the configuration of the rubber ring is different (recessed at the front) and is in much better condition.

The A+ ones, once the flimsy metal disc for factory timing is removed, have 3 holes ideal for tapping to take bolts for a trigger wheel.
The A one has two holes already there, but are larger than I would like (and I would want more than two bolts anyway) so would need to be re-drilled for a trigger wheel.

The question is, which should I use for the best damping (I'll get around the trigger wheel somehow), ie, is the heavier one best?

Rod.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i'd use the one in best condition full stop. you will not notice a difference. I use no damper at all...
