Have you checked for anyother leaks? is the watsegate stuch open? Is the turbo free and spin up? (check on idle with an inspection mirror) Is the engine an MG unit or not, if its an MG unit the cam shouldnt be an issue? Do you have a dump valve, is the diapram ok, and sealing? is the actuator set with enough preload, it may not have and the wastegate is opening at a low boost level so your not noticing the pull that you would if it was set eg to 7psi?
Just a list for you to check to get you started.
Shane.

Could be any of the above.

Mine did the same when my preload was incorrect, the wastegate opened on the first sign of boost.

Inlet manifold leaking will be drawing in air making it run lean off boost.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Hmmm, Im running out of things to suggest? Have you tried a compession test to rule out head gasket, valve seating issues, also warn rings?
