#THS!

I’ve not had it running yet Phil. My toddler twins are still consuming lots of time. I’ve had a little more time recently so have hammered through a lot of it.

Current state is:
- Gearbox out for new baulk rings
- fitting an ATB
- Quick check over bearings etc
- Fit some parts I’ve had for ages, but not inclined to fit while it was in one piece.
- Check wear on clutch
- Tidy up the bulkhead and engine bay in general.

I think that’s it.

Bit more progress. New Minispares competition baulk rings fitted. Small hold up with one of the bearing retainer threads stripping. This was quickly fixed with a helicoil. Just preloading the diff bearings left to do and it’s ready to be slapped back onto the engine.

Looks like Mine. I only have one problem. Routing that exhaust back down.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

I’ve struggled, but the zorst now fits. I had to use button heads for the slave bracket and notch the subframe a bit to make room.

Well, this is taking flipping ages!

Exhaust is all done, most of the plumbing is done. There’s just a few breathers to sort and putting the last bits back together.

I'm wondering how you've fitted the downpipe because that looks like a struggle

It went in ok. Slightly tricky towards the lot joint.

Unless you have a lot of patience and are happy to make stuff, I’d not bother. Its been tricky to get everything to fit. Under the turbo, there’s the oil drain, water return, breather, engine steady, actuator and support bracket. I’ve not had a load of spare time (because kids) and have thought about going back to having the turbo behind the engine many times. It’s still a consideration now as the car is harder to work on than before.

I still have spare time, no kids.. LOL..
En fabrication is fun to do..

The turbo behind the engine is more easy but less accessable when needed. I guess the turbo can be mounted onto the engine with a bracket to keep it supported.?

It may be less accessible, but when do you need to actually get to it? Not very often, unless you’re doing something wrong. Also, you can just remove the oil/water feed/drains, down pipe and lift the whole lot out together to work on it elsewhere.
