The lever that the idle adjustment screw acts upon was catching the carb body. Not even sure how this happened, but is sorted now.

Fuelling at cruise was off the scale rich. I’ve reinstated the part throttle pipe and it’s perfect. 14-16:1 on cruise depending on load/RPM and quickly jumps to 12-11:1 when you floor it.

How are you getting on with the td04, have you noticed a good difference from the gt17?
I only ask as I have recently gone over to the td04 but it's not up and running yet.
Your build thread has been a great read 👍

Sorry, only just saw this.

I’m using the TD04 from the Saab Aeros. There is quite a bit of difference between the TD04s denoted by the last set of characters in the part no.

So far, it seems great. Maybe a smidge later to come onto boost. I wouldn’t say that I can notice it really. It’ll be some time before I can tell if it makes any real world difference. I’m hoping that the bigger turbine will mean more peak power, but I won’t ever be able to do back to back testing with the GT17 as the rolling road I used has since closed and I made other changes to the engine (Bigger exhaust, new manifold and the head fettled by Phil).

One thing is certain, it’s torque steering like mad at anything over 16psi boost. So, it’s either making more power or something in the suspension has changed since it’s been off the road.

Wow, I only seem to update this at MOT time.

So short story - at the end of 2020, I took the car for a trackday at Brands and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Only issue was feeling quite vulnerable in a car that predates safety considerations with no cage and going silly fast with lots of inexperienced drivers.

So, I’ve put together a fairly inexpensive cage and added a few additional bars. I also ended up rewiring most of it too. Pics to follow.

Today I’m taking it to get tested. Looking forward to having it back on the road.

Looks good! I’m glad to hear it is still progressing.

I like the discreet writing in the switch panel
