I always thought stainless was non magnetic and now suspect some grades are magnetic.
Right or Wrong?
If some grades are magnetic are they less corrosion resistant?

Right, many grades of "stainless" are magnetic (generally the feritic grades rather than the austenitic).
Then, no, or not necessarily - corrosion resistance is down to the material and the environment.... some of the best grades of stainless are crap in seawater, for example, but briliant at elevated temperatures in the creep range.

Have found some 304 that was magnetic, but very weak.
316 isn't magnetic at all. It also has very good anti-corrosion. Used in swimming pool applications alot as well as catering.
Some companies use that crap 420 annealed stuff for decorative stuff which is magnetic & rusts like mild steel.

316 is also an arse to machine.

My Maniflow "stainless" exhaust started showing signs of rust when only year or 2 old.

Although its one of the more solid bits of my Mini these days !!

Dairy/Marine/Catering grades are all much better, and non-magnetic.
But harder to bend....

202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Yep, bending can be a pain. Abit like ally, seems to have a grain to it.
