Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

You dont need one for the MOT at all. I know this as my spare in another car was bald and the garage "suggested" i took it out for the MOT! lol! If your in france and some other countries it is law to carry a spare.

Just put a can of foam in, not the best option but better than nothing. Some new cars only have foam, no spare so it cant be the law to have a spare *smiley*

Weight saving too!

Some new cars don't have spares

I know someone who's got a C class Merc estate on an 03 plate
he bought it new and imported it from germany and it's only got a can of foam and no space for a spare

Yep, my bro's Elise just has a can of foam under the bonet.

I was told one that all car trailers had to be twin axle. Where do people get such bollox info from.

I'm full of shid most of the time come to think of it.

As far as I was aware Contruction and use does not stipulate you have to have a spare tire.

If you do have a spare it must be serviceable (i.e. inflated and legal tread). Bizarely C&U doesn't say the spare has to be the same diameter as the other road wheels, but it is illegal to have different diameter or tire construction (back to radial vs cross-ply) on the same axle of the car........

So you could have a 12" spare, so long as it's got tread and inflated, but you can't use it on the car if you get a flat !!

Hold on lads, I ve got an idea............

BMw M3's don't have a spare but are supplied with run-flat tyres. My BMW E46 has a space saver tyre which looks really funny when fitted with the other wheels being 18" split rims! It isn't good for your car to have different diameter tyres on the same axle if the axle is being driven as the diff will rotate at different speeds and on certain cars will trigger the ABS sensors. (Nothing to worry about on a mini as regards the ABS but am sure the Diff would NOT be happy!
