can you still get these or is it an ebay job? my dad is rebuilding the original 997 engine out of his early mk1 cooper and the pistons and rods are missing from the engine. Cheers

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Any small bore rods with bushed little ends will do the job.

The 850 or 998 pistons will come out the top of the block. The 997 has a 3.2" stroke.

I would suggest using 1098 Hypatec pistons from Minisport, Australia. It's about a +0.060" overbore. You would need to skim about 0.050" of the block deck.

Alternatively fit 1098 crank, rods and pistons and retain the standard deck height.

Hello

What size overbore pistons are you looking for ?

Original 997 rods are the pinch bolt type , same as 850 and 948 Minor/sprite engine .

Dont think my dad really has a specific size in mind but the engine has been lying around for years and needs a rebore. There are 2 set on ebay - standard and a +20 set who the man described as giving 1095, but to me that doesnt sound right?

I guess that those are 1071 Cooper S pistons.
