Any reason for wanting "top spec" rods?

if theyre the ones i'm thinking of, i started a thread about them a little while ago.

here it is.

really high spec rods arn't needed in the A series, std A+ ones (which are alllegedly the weakest) will take 8k easy.

I've held a set of these rods in my hands, they look good, but finish is not as quite as good as other steel rods ive seen. But for the money they do look good. That said, I'm not sure if I would trust somethine unknown in my engine.

thatys my whole big thing point JIm, what the chinese say and what they actually produce are two very different things,
4 grms difference between a set is not uncommon.
now bare in mind these rods are fairly well finished and leave little meat for balancing, by the time you remove 3 or 4 gms from the worst, it will look like its been attacked with a angle grinder, because you will not be able to just file at one spot for fear of weakening [ or just the cap as some do],you will ned to spread the work out along the beam,

when i do a set of rods for myself, i complete 3 machining operations on them , then i get going with the grinders and bobbins, all the caps weigh the same and so do the main rod, there are no balancing marks when ive finished and thay will all be exactly the same weight, its very time consuming but well worth it.

ive said before ive seen these cheap rods that needed butchering to get them balanced,

ive a set of Arrow rods unused and all weigh 495 gms + or - nothing. perfect,!!!!

They werent that expensive, but damn they were nice !!!!
In fact, the rod/piston etc etc combo, was pretty damn cheap.
