any ideas on this one guys before i strip it down sunday, been out in my mini tonight, fine all the way there, left it for about an hour, came back, started up, pressed clutch to get a gear and the pedal went straight to the floor, as if it had a hydraulic leak, got reverse, just, tried to get a forward gear, nothing doing, let the clutch back up, tried to press again and this time its absolutely rock solid which is how it still is now,

with the engine running, when you press the clutch pedal (very hard!) the engine starts to die, there are no strange noises or anything like that at all

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

sounds hydraulic related to be honest. Is the hose a std rubber one? close to the exhaust or anything that could make it hot and maybe break down inside to block up?

does the arm on the clutch housing move? I have had a similar problem but with my brakes before, pedal was rock hard but no brakes, turned out to be seized pistons on half the system and one of the pistons had managed to get itself wedged in the bore where a line of crap had accumulated. It is a bit worrying that the engine tries to die when the clutch is pressed though. Sounds to me that the release bearing has given up the ghost so the clutch slave is at maximum travel (hence rock hard) or something along those lines, sounds like it may be time to get a new clutch kit fitted.

I think that if the hose was breaking down, the pedal would get softer due to the expansion and contraction of the rubber around the "damaged" area.

Sorry mate
