I have been reading about the superior exhaust of a 12G295 and since I happen to own and untouched one, was askink myself if this would be a good way to drop CR on a 1275 assuming I fit it with the 1275 small valves (having a 1275 small valves anyway)

Jo's right I'm afraid, you'll just fill your cylinders with water.

And is a worked exhaust port on a 295 better than the same on a 940 or just better than a worked exhaust on any other small bore head?

I think the last. However, the valve guide boss on the 940 is HUGE compared to the 295. Difficult to say really. A port with a modified valve guide boss in a 940 would anyway flow WAY better than a 295. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |
