well went to pick up me box, spoke to Percy, whom i havnt seen for months, my fault and his, i have been side tracked at work, and he has been really ill !

well my gear and needle bearing i paid 150 quid for from mr JKD is completely the wrong item. i specified Second gear for a straight cut metro turbo challenge set.

i dont know any different here mind so a cog and bearing came and i left them with the engineer.

spoke to percy today. needle bearing is the wrong one, and the gear is for a "dog box" ? when compared wih the original its totally different.

iam so angry i need to smash summit. i know what they will say if i email em too. !!





then if that was not enough, my mates gearbox is getting an evo x pin diff put in, Percy opened the box and showed me the packaging and there is one of the short pins missing, we broke the seal on the pack thinking it may be in with the planet wheels NOPE not there missing !!! so i now have to explain to me mate he need to contact Avonbar this is the second diff he has had, the first one had Pitting on the housing and looked like it had been battered.

I HATE THE FACT THAT I AM NOW OUT OF POCKET AND ME MATE TOO!!!!

just so sick as fuck with this situation i have just started with the ini again and i want rid of it already i cant afford mistakes like this and i reckon i wont see a dime of me cash back.

Surely they have supplied the right thing, I'd have thought all the challenge boxes were dog engagement to put up with the harsh use on circuits?

if that is the case, and ure geuss is as good as mine bro, i have not been sold a challenge gearset. in which case i will probably explode with rage i think i have been sold a challnge set due to the hassle of the needle bearing :)

challenge sets were synchro. You can get challenge ratios in dog as well.

emailed Avonbar re the diff, will have to wait and see about that aspect.

The needle bearing is supposed to be readily available from JKD, i know jim has had them off them easy enough.

If its from Avonbar, then ring him.

Im sure it can be dealt with over the phone.

Ring up Avonbar speak to Ian I am 100% confident he will be able to sort your diff pin issue. I have always had first class service from Avonbar.

that gear you have posted a picture of is that the new gear or the old? as that gear looks like a syncho gear to me. The challenge boxes where 100% syncro. I replaced my bearings and got them from JKD

that is the new gear, and the little bits (i think which are the dogs) are massive in comparison to the one i have. Percy has built the box for me but his words were "that second gear is a concern" recons it will slip out every time i take me foot off the gas (in that gear)

Avonbar got back to me via email really quick too. unfortunately no refunds / or exchange due to time constraints of me having the kit, he is going to speak with tran ex for me today but is of the opinion they dont do spares "its a matched set" if you catch me drift. he has never had this problem before and has no doubt sold thousands of these diffs. fingers crossed or i will owe my mate 200 quid for a diff. as i had it in my possession so technically my bad even though it was sealed up until yesterday i hope Ian can work his magic for me.

pissed off with JKD big time ! they should know that the gear would be duff, and i spent ages explaining which needle bearing it was.

27 teeth bud thats what came with the set.

part number on the new gear is JKD A13

Learnt something useful about Roversport challenge boxes. I assumed they were JK. After some investigation, Trans X & JK made gearsets for Roversport. It was abit hit or miss which one you got.
It was when I took my box to Ian @ Avonbar when he said it wasn't JK I started asking around.

Richie, I have a 2nd gear here (27 teeth) it is stamped JKD 52 STR943. The teeth on the main gear ar in good condition, but there is no molly left on the cones, the clutching teeth have alos had a bit of a hard life, but I'm sure these would clean up with a needle file.

What exactly is wrong with your 2nd gear?

i dont know i have no idea what iam looking at, Percy reckons that the gear is worn to the point that he erckons if iam in second gear and i take me foot off the gas, it will slip out of gear ? what would cause this ?

The gear I have is about the same as that to be honest. The gearkit you have there cam out of an egine which had no problems, personally I'd try it. Does you gearbox guy really know his stuff?? I'm far from an expert, but I've seen far far worse in gearbox's which have been working with any problems.
