just at the rebuild stage on my car and was wondering what oil pressures people are running?
before i took the engine appart i was getting a good oil pressure from cold however, when running the car for some time this drops off. is this due to a combination of the pump and the oil? i know that the oil pressure does drop when it gets hot but what pressure should i be aiming for? i see about 18-25psi on tick over when hot 40 ish i think on cold start up

Sound ok mate, mines =
75 psi or so when revving & cold, 60 or so when hot.
50 psi on tickover when cold, 20-25 psi when hot.

The pressure drops off when hot because the oil thins out, Pressure wise i personally like to see 20-25psi tickover and 50-60psi cruising speeds. Be nice to see what others like to run though.

A few things to consider:
low oil pressure does not mean that your engine doesn't lubricate. A high oil pressure can cause more wear on bearings etc by pushing the crank to one side. A high reading can also mean a blocked canal somewhere, Shall not be the first.
I used to make sure that i didn't run it under 15-20psi and not above 40-45psi with a hot engine, but this was nonturbo. It lasted for years and years and is still AOK.
I am sure the turbo wizards have their own point of view.

A lot of last year i was running 50 max when hot at high speeds and 20 ish at tick over and the engine wasn't any MORE worn than normal when i stripped bits down after.

glad to hear that thought that i may be a little low when hot at idle

Than what is a little low?

18/20 psi saying that a mate runs his and the oil light comes on at least mine is not that bad
