honestly I cant totally get my head around it, it seems to work on heat/expansion.

also if you put an ice cube on the top plate, and if you put it on something cold it will run backwards.

allegedly if you were to spin the flywheel one side would get hotter and the other colder.

this may not help but thy the link anyway.

No, its just a flat plate that sits on top, TBH i've just been using hot water, the I can drink the tea and watch it.

So far its managed to run 2 1/4 hrs on 1 cup.

it will actually run on the heat of your hand.
