Brought some new rockers, and want to get a view on how many would and many wouldn't change the head gasket.

Its not lossing water and people have told me leave alone, chap MED said change it, but someone here told they did it without and its still fine.

So could i have a show of hands:

Who would change the head gasket!!16 Votes 16 Votes - 0%
Who wouldn\'t change head gasket!!6 Votes 6 Votes - 0%

I'm with Anton.

It's a bodge, but I did it and got away with it.

Make sure the engine is stone cold when you do it.

And make sure to completely loosen up the valve clearance adjusters before undoing the head bolts.

I've got away with it in the past as well.

But if was to do it again, for the sake of a few extra minutes work, I'd change it.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

id replace the head gasket as well, especially as seen as youve just recently overheated it.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

imo you have to sum it up and its pritty easy imo. you have just bought some NEW rockers to go on to improve performance or to replace old ones ect. spending £11.22 (how much a bk450 colst me) to have the comfort of knowing your head gasket shouldnt be going soon and to be able to run your car for longer before needingto have to change it. might as well do it in one foul swoop :)

Near stock engine, I'd try it. Anything turbo or high CR - I'd pull the head.

This is of course assumig my own engine, not a 'job' being done for anyone else...

do the new rockers use non std pillars?

if they dont couldn't you just remove 1 head nut ( the one that has the washer to keep the rockershaft retaining screw in place) and draw the rocker shaft out?
