how much did the conversio cost you to do? how easy was it to install? what are the breakes like now? and why did you move your exhuast to where it is? surely if your going to pop and crackel a flame everyso often its just going to discolour your lovly whiney bumpers :)

Hi,

£100 for the mk2 calipers (83-89) and sliders (new from germany)
£140 8,4 brakes (used but as new!)
£20 ferodo brake pads

Brake line kit are on order, euroquip fittings (m10 banjo caliper end), braided lines

very easy to install the brakes, machine the disks to 7,9, machine off the lugs on the metro turbo driveflanges, a very little grinding on the mountin brackets to clear the hub, bore out caliper mounting holes on hub to 10mm. 2 washers are needed to centre the calipers. 2 30mm good quality m10. Job done!

Exhaust…well i have som "panelling plans" and a new bike batteri under the passenger seat so don´t need the battery box anymore…– do you think it looks kaka?

looks just like mine.. We did mine this time last year with a friend from the local mini club.. top job and much better than the drums I had fitted. We then created the how to vid..

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

The mini addicts vid?

had a little prob with the metro drive flange bolts, they have metric threads, i used the original 8,4 bolts but don´t know if they are up to the job? They are a bit shorter and have smaller head, is it possible to re tapp the disks?

cheers

A great place for an exhaust, had mine there for a few years now. Ideal if you want a nice smooth undertray.

Wil, are you running an undertray? Tinkering with the idea to make on out of alloy (pos. carbon) and bolt it to the subframe rails and rear valance.

Yes, an alloy one. You can just see the end of it in the photo I linked to, it basically covers the hole the subframe makes. Made a massive differance to stability and top-end speed

My sis's old fiesta used to stop on its nose, infact the brakes were the only good thing about the car

I'm sat on the fence here (ouch).

Sliding callipers ar a cheap mas market product, they're heavy hardly look smart. However, they do perfectly good job of stopping the car.

They're really a side-step from the standard setup, but it is a cheap and successful way to fit 10" wheels, and I suspect the braking is just as good.
