I thought I'd finally better say hello to everyone. I've been reading bits on hear for ages and I think that my engine build might be starting soonish. That bit should go well enough as I'll be under the guidance of Ben H.

I'm another non mini A series. It's going to be fitted into my GTM Coupe, which is currently going through a ground up rebuild.

So I'm trying to turn this:

Into one of these:

They are rear wheel drive and mid engined. And bloody fun to drive :)

I'm going to start with a fairly standard turbo engine, but I'm sure when I get bored with it, then I'll start tinkering with it.

The plan was to get it ready for Avon Park or maybe MITP, as the GTMs have their own class there, but I think it may be a tight deadline!

Oh, and finally, it's ok I know how the search engine works!!

*tongue*

Replace the elise with one.

How do you get into the front? is it a flip front?

Back once again like a renegade master

It's basically a flip front, with a mini front subframe in the front, with the fuel tank in it and then another front subframe in the back with the engine in it. All held together with a steel tub and a fibre glass body over the top.

The design is over 40 years old now, but I think they still look great.

Mid engined, rear wheel drive, proper independent rear and 4 wheel discs, sounds ideal!

The one linked above is on Ebay at the moment:

I'll start a build thread on mine soon. Once I have got the welding finished, so i can start putting the thing back together. At the moment it looks nothing more than a stripped tub with a load of holes in it!

Thanks for the welcome *happy*

Betwix Harrogate and York

Piss off to a GTM forum and stop bothering me for advice and parts.

Only joking. It'll be job done if this one is as nice as the old one.

I remember falling in love with these 25 years ago.

I went to the factory at Kegworth (?) for a test drive, saved up enough money to build the engine but not for the rest of the kit. The engine ended up in my Clubman.

Looks like there is enough room for a turbo.

There is really only enough room for the turbo engine after the rear of the frame has been modified. You can't cheat either, as the room infront of the engine is tight.

It is a shame that they don't still make them at Sutton Bonington (Nr Kegworth) as it would be alot easier for me to get hold of parts!

One of the best places for pictures of them, is to try and wade through this site: http://www.schwenti.com/index2.php

It is in German, but has all of the magazine articles of the Coupe, back to 1967!
