ok... am replacing my ball joints and wheel bearings.. Got it up on axel stands and drivers side is all ball joints split and hub wagglin on the drive shaft. But I cant get the hub off the drive shaft.... seems to be siezed on the wheel bearings.... its soakin in WD40 at the mo but any suggestions as to how to get the shaft off the hub bearings? Will I need a hub puller?

Second prob is the near side top ball joint..... again soakin in WD40 but Ive had the ball joint splitter tightened up and whacked it on the top with me club hammer....all to no avail....that joint simply wont part..... am I going to have to use heat and get it hot?

Any suggestions gratefully recieved at this point

Thanks for listenin

For the stuck drive shaft, you might be better putting the hub back on the top and bottom arms and tapping on the end of the CV with a hammer (well leather/nylon mallet or similar).

As for the ball joint, I've never got the hang of the screw-type splitters, but try winding it on then heat it whilst under tension.

A trick that I use for sticky ball joints is to use two hammers, one each side of the arm. A couple of heavy whacks will distort the taper enough to loosen it without any damage.
