On the whole this week has been pretty shitty. On tuesday i woke up to find my golf on bricks with all the wheels and seats missing. The insurance company have now dragged it away and after pricing everything up have decided its a total loss. Really not happy, fucking scrotes everywhere. :(

However, after over two years and countless scraped knuckles and months of demotivation, my mini turbo passed it's mot this morning. I believe (if what the previous owner says is correct) that it's been 11 years since it's had a ticket. Just need to get the wheels aligned now as it's a nightmare to drive!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here that's helped, particularly Neil (wolfie), Tom, Matt, Nic, Ian and of course Alexb. I can safely say without the help of the TM community i'd have sold the bastard thing as a failed project about 18 months ago. :)

good to see that you got the mini through the mot, keep looking on ebay and the local dodgys for car bits like yours, you would be suprised what you find. also where abouts in basingstoke are you? every couple of months or each month normally i go to basingstoke for college could meet up for a few beers or somthing, turbo mini and N/a (still working on the turbo one ) well done on the mot and i hope they find the cu*ts who stole your stuff

Mate Sorry to hear about the golf, I know how it feel's to wake up and to see your car damaged or parts missing. My focus had paint stipper pored over it about 6 weeks ago. But any ways glad to hear you have your mini mot and on the road.

had a look at a 306 gti 6 yesterday. It was a bit 'tappy' which i think hints to previous cambelt failure and a bent valve or dodgy guide.

Will let you know how i get on with my search.

those gti 6's are fast motors, my mate has had a few rallye's (same motor), but he spends lots on maintenence, forever changing the arb bushes, but the roads here are rough

They only kill belts if they are not changed to frequency!!

But be careful not to buy a tapper as they are never right again afterwards.

the one i saw yesterday was a tapper. To be fair to the garage they told me it had had the cambelt go and had been repaired. Leaving well alone now!

Robert, the rough running was a combination of things, the main two being tappets set wrong and a dodgy ignitional amplifier module thing. Runs really well now.
