Had flywheel & backplate resurfaced as the clutch plate made abit of a mess. Asked before about the measurement between the backplate lug & face of the backplate. Realised that because the flywheel has been machined as well, this must also alter the lug length. Also what size spacers for the straps?
Hopefully the pics will explain abit better than my typing.

Thanks to Andy Waller for clutch plate :)

Edit....Forgot to mention, using 3 sets of straps. Not sure if it makes a difference.

leeds/wakefield.

i have always set my lug height to 1" and the flywheel thickness to 7/8".
i took these dims off an old unmolested two piece f/wheel.you would i deally need to deduct the thickness of the 3rd strap off the backplate lug height.
use 10 mm spacers for a starting point and see if the straps look anything like level,

Had alook at Andy's flywheel assembly he got from MED. Was fitted with the thicker road/rally style AP clutch plate. The straps were not straight.
Had a measure up..lug height is 25.3 near as damn it an inch...flywheel thickness is 8.1mm. Can't do imperial measurements!
Cheers Carl *wink*

leeds/wakefield.

its the thickness from the friction face to the ring the diaphram acts upon,

the straps dont have to be cock on level, just reaqsonably near will get the job done,

I recently had my backplate machined to 23.5mm as Turbo Dave and Benross suggested in other posts, fitted with two straps and a grey diaghram and it assembled perfectly. Not tried in anger yet though.

It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt... Then it's hilarious!
