Strengthening plate for certain early cars that used rear bump stops I believe.

I think it ties the boot floor to the arch/damper mount. I recently seam welded around mine whilst repairing the boot floor. Could be wrong though. |

If you mean the plate thats welded on, then its for bump stops on hydrolastic cars.
I seriously doubt it! |
