Noticed something I've not come across anywhere.
The waterways on my block have been brazed up & re-drilled with a smaller hole. Its just the front waterways.
Anyone seen this mod? Is it to get better flow on the rear of the block perhaps???

isnt that what they do to 'drydeck' the block,
and have a take off at the end of the block?

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Probibly to try and promote better flow to #4 cylinder and round the back then into the head.

If you look at the block close enough you will see that most of the coolant flow travels along the 'front' of the block so it can get to the back of the block, not as most think, through that tiny passage at the water pump.

The BMW K1100 head gasket does a similar thing, there are no holes at the front/pump end, then small holes starting at #2 cylinder getting larger as it gets towards the far and of the block, round the back and then smaller as it gets closer to the pump again.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Seems obvious thing to do, but don't like to hound the bloke.
Will send an email.

I asked.
A standard Turbo Challenge mod which was aimed at keeping more water at the back of the block rather than the front – all that heat from the Turbo has to go somewhere.

Probably not really necessary with the lower boost used in the Metro Cup regs but it all helps to keep the engine running a bit longer than it might do otherwise.
