Hi all,

I recently destroyed my mini turbo engine the piston has ignited on itself blowing chunks out of the edges of piston 4, ruining the bore. I have been told this was down to poor ignition and bad fuelling. I have only done about 15,000miles in it since ive done the conversion so im a bit gutted.

Avonbar have quoted me £1700 for full race spec engine and head rebuild.

If everyone could donate a £1 to me that would be enough to put my mini back on the road :)

Haha nice one.

Seriously though, what other damage was caused, crank, rods, box etc.

Is the bore too damaged for an overbore? Or if it is and everything else survived you might just need a new block and pistons.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Its Damaged the bore so it does need to be rebored. I spoke with Ian from avonbar who said its more than likely it could be more damaged. Im gutted Ive just had my car sprayed and Im scrimping for money now. So my car is just sitting in the garage for a while now freshly sprayed :(

At least you broke it proporly.

you could always throw a tempory 1275 motor in, so at least its drivable and not unbearably slow.

strip the engine down to see whats damaged and let us know. new pistons and a rebore wont cost £1700
