Just been for another tune up, very good job i had.

the car had been running very badly not much go and wouldn't tick over right.

It was because the Mixture had gone way out. It was 2. some % at tick over which as you no isn't good as it's normaly double that.

Good job i didn't race any thing on the way home from retro day as one might have melted some thing. *laughing*

Not being funny, but how did the mixture 'go way out'? and what was changed to rectify it?

Good Call Wil,
Something has happened for that to occur...

Never had any problems with mixture changing that much without an issue / cause seperate to the mixture screw...

To be honest chaps I'd be very interested too as it costs me money every tune up and it's almost once a month at times:(

Every year after the normal rebuilds at the start of the year the car always goes out of tune fast. and as the year goes on it's goes out less!??

It does pee me off as i can't always get into the RR for a check up for 2 weeks or so, there for i'm with out a good running car untill i can get in, and this often means missing out on the odd race*wink*

I do notice it goes out of tune after a hard drive with 20psi, no idea why. I go to the local RS meets and the day after it could well be out. *crying*

I do get major engine wear as you have see from the pics posted in the past and this is what i put the going out of tune down to, weather this is right or not, i really don't know.

Altrezia , It made this time 177.3 at wheels.

If any one has any ideas on why it goes out so much let me know.

Winchester

my engine used to go way out quickly becuase the movement in the engine was causing the carb jet to hit the bulkhead whenever you floored it, this is because of the alloy inlet moving it right back, the position of the carb meant the jet was an inch or less form the bulkhead
that was an hs4 so the jet is protruding quite far, but perhaps the same thing could happen with an hif? especially in such a cramped space.
have a look for any marks behind the carb on the bulkhead. i know it has an internal jet but the same could happen.
just a thought...
DAN :)

I'm thinking it's not the carb that the problem.

Picture the bottom half of the needle - how much does it change in diameter over a 10mm length? F**k all... So, moving the heedle up and down a couple of mm won't be makign the difference...

I'd be looking at my fuel supply system. I bet if you got the spec sheet from whoever sells these regulators, they are rated at 1.5bar of boost or therabouts...
Either way, your existing regulator has had years of abuse (in a nice way!) - so the diaphram is probably pretty stretched...
I'd be lookign at a BRAND NEW (yes NEW) regulator in the first case... They do stretch - mark has had experience of this.

I know they're expensive, but it's gotta be worth a go...
