right i have had conflicting advice on a potential prob but i can rectify it before the motor go's in if its a problem?

i have A+ conrods that used to have interferance fit pistons/gudgeon pins fitted, the type that have to be heated to be removed,

my new pistons are circlip/button type & the gudgeon pin is a slightly larger diameter on this type, i've bee told its fine to hone the small end out so the circlip pistons fit, are the tough enough to cope with this modification or.....

should i have a bush fitted to the small end?

cheers again all

You can use either way.

However, I was recommended that I use the bushed little ends. Reasond being that you can easily remove the pistons without damaging them at next engine build. Downside is that you either need to make up some teflon buttons to use instead of circlips or keep you revs down.

My engine builder swapped my late A+ press-fit rods with some early A+ bushed rods.

i've got the telflon just jubious about honing the little end to make the gudgeon pin fit, i thought it would wear out without a bush fitted????????

i'm a litle confued on this matter

Apparently this method has been used successfully without problems.

For a low rpm torque monster, the std circlips would be OK. However, Teflon or aluminium buttons are better. When it comes to rods, either hone out the ones you've got or find some A rods. Much more cost effective.
A+ sucks!

so the opinion is thats its ok to hone my rods to fit the other pins!

i have A+ rods honed to size already soz vegard :) but its just on the one side i have alot of ppl saying thismod is fine the other a few ppl saying i should fit bushes????? i can see the point of bushing them

can the a+ honed out take the wear n tear without the bush?

Hone it out, don't worry. If the rod wears, THEN fit a bush. Or get a set of new rods, the are so dirt cheap.
